Via the aidfund Heart for Children we will report to you on what and where the donated money is spent. Via the website of Heart for Children, we will keep you informed, but also in the television broadcasts of Hour of Power (every Sunday on RTL5 at 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.). At certain moments we will report about the help that has been given.

The new life of hundreds of children in Haiti is literally in ruins. A life's work of 30 years is almost completely destroyed in a few hours.

Hundreds of underprivileged children in recent years have been taken care of in the children's village Bon Repos. These children lived on the streets, because they were orphans. Vulnerable, helpless, forgotten. In the children's village of Johan and Wilcie Smoorenburg these children get new hope and a future. The project grew and flourished, until it was hit by one of the most terrible disasters that the country has ever known.

"Miraculously, there are no deaths in the village, but the situation is terrible," says Johan Smoorenburg. "There were already many orphans, but by the earthquake, this number only increased." In the village lived 450 children, employees and the elderly. Hundreds of orphans, the homeless and injured were taken care of outside the village.

"We work twenty hours per day, we do what we can. We give clean water and food, but our stock also reduces. Furthermore, we are afraid of looting, because the wall around our village is completel collapsed. That wall garantees safety of our children."

The children in Haiti need your help desperately needed. Donate your contribution today via the "Donation-button". Hour of Power has a Heart for Children. Can we make an appeal on your heart?

Description of the project

Children's Village Bon Repos

With this action we support, in close cooperation with hour of power, a project of missionary Johan Smoorenburg. Johan runs in Haiti the children's village Bos Repos close to the capital Port-au-Prince, with houses, schools and medical care for both children and elderly Haitians. Also the children's village is violently affected by the disaster – the damage is estimated at 1 million euro- and they try to offer shelter to those who survived the disaster.

Size of the area is 4 hectares (excluding the purchased land for the construction of a new boys house).

On the terrain is, among other things, present:

  • the children's village, consisting of 11 apartments;
  • a nursery, a nursing building (incl. central kitchen), a church, a sickbay, a bakery, a training centre, children's playground with sports facilities, a vegetable garden and a well with pump installation and an aggregate.
