ChildRight on Robben Island in South Africa

At the end of last November ChildRight was in South Africa. There was a visit to Robben Island and the cell where Mandela spent so many years. It was very impressive and sad. (Mandela is a Nobel laureate and supports ChildRight. His statement can be read elsewhere on this site.)

Mr. Sparks was also a prisoner on Robben Island between 1983-1990 and has since then also met Mandela. Now he is a guide and he led us around. It was very impressive and very sad to hear all the details.

In prison Mandela had no name. He was called by his number 46664.

After a long time he could build his own small garden.
