Press release

In the past months, the Board of ChildRight Fund was faced with a large number of press releases and a television broadcast with regard to alleged internal financial abuses. In the written press figures of millions were mentioned. In the last period there has been an extensive internal investigation that has mainly focused on the period of establishment (end 2004) until early 2007. The final conclusion of this research was that no financial abuses in whatever form happened. In the conclusion explicitly was mentioned that in a relatively small organization as ChildRight Fund millions are never handled which means that the negative statements were probably expressed by certain persons with the ultimate goal of damaging ChildRight Fund.

Because the Board of the ChildRight Fund aspires optimal transparency, they tried to figure out on the basis of which fact the negative reporting started. Unfortunately by interested parties such as the press, the CBF and the police additional information is not provided.

For the Board of ChildRight Fund it is impossible to provide sufficient transparency. The ChildRight Fund therefore is forced to take other steps.

After careful consultations, the Board decided to introduce a petition to hold a preliminary witness hearing. Because such a witness hearing is provided by a court, it ensures the management of the ChildRight Fund to get answers to relevant questions. Persons who have given negative statements in the past period about the ChildRight Fund have to claim, during such a provisional hearing, on what such allegations are based. Information that the ChildRight Fund so far is missing.

Although the ChildRight Fund is daily active with the realisation of its objectives, it had decided to examine in depth where this unsubstantiated negative publicity came from and where this publicity was based on. The ChildRight Fund considers that the donors, sponsors, volunteers and employees are entitled to the full truth and shouldn't be exposed to innuendo and untruths.

It is clear that the ChildRight Fund through the appropriate channels such as its website will continue to keep everyone informed of developments. On the basis of the results of the preliminary witness hearing, the Board of the ChildRight Fund will consider further steps in the future.
